FROM PHYSICAL TO VIRTUAL

WHAT IS A VIRTUAL 3D SPACE?

A virtual 3D space, also known as a digital twin, is a visually immersive, dimensionally accurate and fully interactive 3D model of a real-world space that allows the user to get context about any space.

Once we have Virtualized your space it can be fully customised to include links to products, videos, information and lots more, making it a truly immersive experience.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

We use the very latest Pro3 LiDAR camera from industry leader Matterport. LiDAR is an acronym for Light Detection and Ranging. In LiDAR, laser light is sent from a source (transmitter) and reflected from objects in the scene. The reflected light is detected by the system and the time of flight (ToF) is used to develop a distance map of the objects in the scene. The Matterport technology uses this, as well as images, to build a 3D mesh that is both dimensionally and visually accurate.

GETTING YOUR SPACE VIRTUALIZED

PREPARATION

The purpose of creating a digital twin generally falls into one of two categories; presentation or documentation. Both will capture the space at a particular point in time so a degree of preparation may be needed in advance. If it is for presentation purposes, i.e. you are showing off a luxury hotel, a property for sale or a wedding venue then you will want it to be presented perfectly. This means the space being clean and tidy and preferably with good weather! If it is for documentation purposes, i.e. for facilities management, construction progress or a digital inventory then it is important that we capture the space ‘as it is’ so that it is catalogued properly. Where possible, we can visit the site ahead of time to help and advise.

SCANNING THE PHYSICAL SPACE

The process begins by placing our Pro3 camera at a starting point within the space, where it performs a 360-degree scan using LiDAR technology and high-resolution imaging. After each scan, the camera is moved systematically through the property, with each scan overlapping the previous one to ensure accurate alignment. We control the camera on a tablet and stitch the scans together in real time, allowing us to fully monitor progress and coverage. Once the entire area is scanned, the data is uploaded where it is processed into an interactive, fully navigable 3D model. This model can then be customized, shared, embedded online, and enhanced with measurements, tags, and floor plans.

BUILDING THE 3D MODEL

To truly harness the power of your Matterport Digital Twin, it's essential to understand how to effectively communicate key information and narrate a compelling story within your digital space. That’s where we add real value. By working with you we can embed information such as documents, comments, images and even videos directly into the virtual space meaning you can present an informative and immersive experience that can improve sales, bookings and online engagement.

SHARE IT WITH THE WORLD

Sharing your Matterport digital twin via your website and social media channels offers a dynamic and engaging way to showcase your space, attracting more attention and setting you apart from the competition. Unlike static photos or basic video tours, a Matterport model provides an interactive, 360-degree virtual experience that lets viewers explore the property at their own pace, from any location. This not only increases the time potential customers spend engaging with your content, but also builds trust by offering complete transparency. Embedding the digital twin on your website enhances your professional image, while sharing it across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn helps boost visibility, reach a wider audience, and drive higher-quality leads.
